The movement Flor da Cabaça was born in 2017 and has its roots in the first women's rodas organized by Professora Bamba in Igarassu. The annual events offer capoeira, music, dance and theatre workshops taught exclusively by women. The events are open to all genders.

Female capoeira teachers who have demonstrated their leadership skills in the male-dominated art form for 30 years are invited to share their knowledge. There is an urgent need to seek dialogue in an increasingly violent environment. Flor da Cabaça works with local institutions to raise awareness about violence against women.
